Last Minute Astrometry for Occultation by (90) Antiope, 2009 Feb 19 (~23:05 UT)

We got some last minute astrometry by Claudine Rinner & François Kugel, IAU A77 Dauban (50cm telescope), France Federico Manzini, IAU A12, Sozzago (40cm telescope), Italy and Raoul Behrend, data reduction, Geneva, Switzerland.

The path has shifted 22.6 km to the south compared to Steve Preston’s prediction from Feb 6 (see station maps of blog Feb 11)

These are the station maps based on this last minute prediction:

WEST and EAST

V-Magnitude of target star TYC 0849-01304-1: 12.1 mag
The UCAC2 gives a “pseudo-R magnitude” of  12.2 mag

THIS IS A BINARY ASTEROID!
Body “A” will lie at the projected distance 154 km North-West from body “B” at the occultation time. (J. Lecacheux)

A detailed description of the binary asteroid and the expected occultations can be found here:
Details of Occultation (90) Antiope, 2009 Feb 19

The max duration is expected to be 5.7 sec (Body “A”) and 5.5 sec (Body “B”)  with a max drop of  1.6 mag.
The event will take place at an altitude of 49 deg and at azimuth 155 deg. The sun will be at an altitude of -52 deg. (At predicted centre line for longitude E 10 deg)

The probabilities to see positive event(s) are shown at the legend of the maps and at the “Details” file.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Predictions are sometimes wrong. Please observe even with a small probability.
