Station Map for the Occultation by (234) Barbara at Saturday, 2009 November 21 (~ 03:17 UT)
VERY SPECIAL OCCULTATION!
(234) Barbara has a complex concave shape, best modeled as two bodies that may be in contact!
Observations outside the predicted path needed!
TRANS-ATLANTIC EVENT!
Shadow crosses Florida,U.S.A. too.
Observations planned at the U.S.
See Scotty Degenhardt’s (IOTA Event Coordinator U.S.A.) Call for Observers:
http://scottysmightymini.com/PR/234_Barbara_CallForObservers.htm
with a list of announced stations.
V-Magnitude of target star HIP 34106: 7.5 mag
Spectral type G5
Johnson B-V Colour Index: +1.0
UCAC instrumental “pseudo-R” fit-model magnitude: 7.2 mag (data from UCAC3)
The max duration is expected to be 8.2 sec with a max drop of 5.6 mag.
The event will take place at an altitude of 41 deg and at azimuth 192 deg. The sun will be at an altitude of -35 deg. (At predicted centre line for longitude E 05 deg)
There is a 1 sigma uncertainty interval of ± 0.46 path widths.
The probabilities to see a positive event:
Centre line: ~ 72 %
Path limits: ~ 49 %
1 sigma lines: ~ 16 %
2 sigma lines: ~ 2 %
(Calculation according to Raymond Dusser, E.A.O.N. Circular #10)
